Polygonexchange spot fees
Poloniex calculates standard spot fees as a percentage of each executed trade's value, using the maker or taker rate. The account's VIP tier and any eligible TRX/HTX fee deduction affect the rate; slippage separately changes the price at which an order fills.
- Maker execution
- An order is already resting in the order book before another order matches it.
- Taker execution
- An order matches liquidity that's already in the book.
- Fee deduction requirement
- TRX/HTX deduction requires TRX and/or HTX held in the spot account. For TRX payment, you must opt in through Trading Tier Status and have enough TRX to cover the trade's fee; otherwise, that trade gets no TRX discount.
Selected VIP spot fee rates
| VIP tier | Standard maker / taker | With eligible TRX/HTX deduction, maker / taker |
|---|---|---|
| VIP 0 | 0.2000% / 0.2000% | 0.1400% / 0.1400% |
| VIP 1 | 0.1150% / 0.1250% | 0.0805% / 0.0875% |
| VIP 2 | 0.1050% / 0.1200% | 0.0735% / 0.0840% |
Poloniex has additional VIP tiers, and custom rates for individual trading pairs can differ from account-level rates. A paid Super Membership can waive spot trading fees during its active term if the purchased plan includes that benefit and trading stays within its volume quota. Standard fees resume when that quota is exhausted or the membership expires. Subscription prices, eligibility and quotas depend on the plan offered at purchase.
The older Fee Structure article, last updated August 4, 2022, lists tier 1 at 0.1450% maker and 0.1550% taker. Those figures belong to its earlier numbered-tier schedule and shouldn't be mixed with the VIP rows.
Choosing between price control and immediate execution
A resting limit order can qualify for maker pricing, but selecting a limit order doesn't guarantee that rate: the portion that immediately matches existing liquidity uses taker pricing. A limit order suits a trade where price control matters more than an immediate fill. The order can remain unfilled if the price isn't reached or matching liquidity is insufficient.
Market orders take the best available prices in the order book and use taker pricing, subject to any applicable fee waiver. Thin liquidity can move the average fill price away from the price expected when the order was placed. That difference is slippage; a fee discount reduces the trading charge without changing the fill price.
Account rates and fees for individual pairs
Poloniex's Trading Tier Status identifies the fee tier assigned to the account. For API users, the authenticated spot

values. Those entries matter when a pair's charge differs from the general account rate. Numeric values in the documentation's sample response aren't a quote for a real account.
Costs outside the spot trading percentage
Borrowing assets through spot cross margin adds hourly interest, including when borrowed assets back an open order. This interest is charged on the borrowed amount and is separate from the spot execution fee.
Perpetual futures use a separate fee schedule and can involve funding payments. A subsequent crypto withdrawal also has its own asset-specific transaction fee, which can change with network conditions. Neither charge is included in the spot maker or taker percentage.
