Polygonexchange withdrawal limits: Poloniex caps and holds

Poloniex can reject a withdrawal even when the selected currency shows a positive Available amount. This spot cross-margin restriction applies when loans remain in other currencies and deducting the withdrawal would leave the account below its required margin level. Poloniex's Increasing Withdrawal Limits guidance lists daily caps of $10,000 USD for Level 1 accounts or $50,000 with two-factor authentication (2FA), and $500,000 for Level 2 accounts or $1,000,000 with 2FA. Raising the daily cap above $1,000,000 requires Level 2, 2FA and whitelisted withdrawal addresses; contact Poloniex support about a higher custom limit. These allowances don't override margin requirements or other withdrawal restrictions.

A deposit can leave Available at zero

A currency with a negative balance can still show zero Available after a deposit if that deposit is smaller than the outstanding loan. The Balance field reflects the improvement even though debt remains, so an unchanged Available amount doesn't necessarily mean the deposit had no effect.

With Auto-Borrow & Repay enabled, purchases, incoming transfers and deposits of a borrowed currency are automatically used to repay debt in that currency. The amount credited and the amount available to withdraw can therefore differ.

Collateral and repayment affect withdrawal capacity

Poloniex's Cross Margin Trading FAQs identifies two ways to address the withdrawal restriction caused by outstanding loans in other currencies: add more eligible collateral or repay those loans. Neither option guarantees approval without satisfying the remaining margin requirement.

Only eligible margin assets in the spot account count toward spot cross-margin collateral. Ineligible currencies and crypto held in other account types don't contribute. Poloniex also applies collateral rates that discount eligible assets' market values, and it can adjust those rates. An asset's full market value therefore needn't equal the amount counted as collateral.

When Auto-Borrow is enabled, a withdrawal exceeding a borrowable currency's available amount can create borrowing within the account's borrow limit. That limit depends on the overall margin ratio of the spot account. Borrowed assets accrue interest hourly, including borrowing used for open orders, so the debt can change while those orders remain open.

Borrowing and liquidation thresholds

Below a 150% spot cross-margin ratio, Poloniex's FAQ describes a margin call and a block on further borrowing. Forced liquidation requires the margin ratios calculated using both the last price and the mark price to be below 100%. The displayed ratio uses the last spot price, which explains why a displayed value below 100% doesn't always trigger liquidation immediately.

These are borrowing and liquidation thresholds. The withdrawal restriction refers separately to the margin level required after the requested amount is deducted; it doesn't specify a numerical withdrawal cutoff. A ratio above a liquidation threshold alone doesn't establish how much can be withdrawn.

Account holds and blockchain settings

Account restrictions can also block a withdrawal below its daily allowance. Poloniex's account-restrictions guidance states that changing 2FA disables withdrawals for 24 hours; a risk-control trigger can impose a separate withdrawal restriction for a specified period. Poloniex's currency reference data includes blockchain, wallet state and withdrawal fee information, with child-chain entries for currencies that use multiple chains. The V2 currency reference also lists each network's minimum withdrawal amount and whether withdrawals are enabled. Check that minimum and the withdrawal-enabled status as well as the fee for the intended network; a currency's trading status alone doesn't establish withdrawal availability.

Withdrawal decision checklist

  • Check the account's daily allowance and any active withdrawal hold. If loans remain in other currencies, check the margin that would remain after the withdrawal.
  • Count only eligible assets in the spot account as cross-margin collateral, using their applicable collateral rates.
  • If Available stays at zero after a deposit, compare Balance with the remaining debt in that currency.
  • For a currency with multiple chain entries, check the withdrawal-enabled status, minimum withdrawal amount and fee for the intended blockchain.
